There have been a lot of tools popping up on the market to help you edit photos. However, we’ll use a tried and true method to help you remove the background on your picture. You guessed it, we’re talking about Photoshop.

Removing image backgrounds with Adobe CC

Start by opening Photoshop on your Mac or PC.

Click "File," then "Open..." from the top menu to bring up the image you want to remove the background from.

This is where the “Quick Selection Tool” comes in. The most effective tool for simple backdrop removals is the "Quick Selection Tool." Choose the "Quick Selection Tool" from the tools menu to get rid of the background. (Quick Selection Tool not visible? With the "Magic Wand Tool," it can be nestled.

Click and drag your mouse over the undesirable background once the tool is ready. Work your way around your topic gradually, expanding your choice as you go.

Sometimes you'll discover that places that you didn't wish to include were included in your selection. Click and drag your cursor over the background you want to erase while holding down the “Alt” or “Option" keys to activate the tool's subtraction mode.

When you're ready to add to your selection once more, let go of the “Alt” or “Option" key. As you work, go back and forth between the addition and subtraction modes.

Zoom in closer to tackle parts that are more challenging. However, lowering your brush size to 1px can assist in capturing the smallest details. You can proceed once your subject is entirely contained within a selection.

For better results, you can fine-tune your pick using the Refine Edge window.  Right-click on one of them and choose "Refine Edge" from the pop-up menu. First, switch the View Mode to "On White" or any other setting that has a noticeable contrast with your choice. You'll be able to see the areas of your edge that require the greatest assistance by doing this.

Increase the “Smooth” value slider in the “Adjust Edge” section to smooth off the rough edges of your pick. Additional sliders may need to be adjusted, but smoothing should be the most beneficial. When finished, click OK.
